The Nokia Lumia Icon pops into the headlines again with a new release date and pre-order window. The Nokia Lumia 929 has been circling the rumor mill for quite some time now. The fabled unicorn of a phone has faced delays and has leaked out into the wild on more than one occasion. Information surrounding the forth coming handset have been lingering around the interwebs since September of last year and has still not launched. Since its first leak it seems as if new launch dates have cropped up nearly monthly and it is apparently time for its February launch date rumor!
The Lumia Icon was once known as the Lumia 929 and to quote one of the best songs ever, it’s been a long time coming! This new Lumia has been coming along for so long it is rather surprising it hasn’t been launched or scraped at this point. Luckily for us however, new rumors are suggesting a launch date that is only about nine days away! With a large grain of salt new information is suggesting a February 20th launch date with pre-orders opening on February 12th. An internal Verizon inventory document has surfaced showing the Lumia Icon to be available on the 20th and pre-orders from the 12th. Additionally Windows Phone Central who found the document is hearing a $50 dollar depositing placed at a Microsoft store will reserve your Lumia Icon. So in case you haven’t heard the Nokia Lumia Icon aka the 929 will come with a 5 inch touch 1080p Full HD AMOLED touch screen that will give its end users access to Windows Phone 8. Internally the handset is expected to come with a Qualcomm made Snapdragon 800 system chip that houses a quad core 2.2 GHz processor, unnamed GPU, 2 GB of RAM and 32 GB of internal storage. Additionally the Icon is expected to come with Qi wireless charging abilities, a 20 mega pixel PureView camera and a 2510 mAh battery. All we can do now is wait however.
