LG Officially Announces the G2

LG announces the G2! Ah, the new LG G2 has been made official. The new LG G2 is not to be confused with the companies G2x, or HTC’s two G2’s but is here to give a the smart phone business a slight twist in design. The LG G2 has been leaking all over the place in the last month or so and it is now time for the handset to get its day in the spotlight. LG has announced the handset, and surprise, surprise the LG G2 will be made available across all four major US carriers.

Today is August 7th 2013 and just as expected LG has announced their latest flagship Android phone, the LG G2. The new smart phone is headed into this world with a rather unique design and enough power to run a small country. The G2 is an amazingly thin phone that measures in at 8.9mm. So thin in fact the company has placed the volume rocker and power buttons to the phone on the rear of the device just under the camera sensor and LED flash. Adding a bit more functionality to the button set, LG has confirmed that the rear mounted buttons can also be used in conjunction with the devices camera and memo application. The G2 will also be made available for all carriers here stateside and will of course take advantage of LTE Advanced networks where available. The G2 starts with a 5.2 inch 1080×1920 full HD IPS LCD touch screen that offers up 423 pixels per inch. Internally the G2 will come with a 3000 mAh battery, a Qualcomm made Snapdragon 800 system chip that offers a quad core 2.2 GHz processor. Additionally you can expect an Adreno 330 GPU, 2 GB of RAM, and 32 GB of built in storage.  Around back we’ll find a 13 mega pixel camera with LED flash as well as a front facing 2.1 mega pixel camera sensor. Add in connectivity like GPS, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, Hotspot, Micro USB and NFC the G2 sounds like a perfect smart phone. The G2 is expected to begin launching around the world during Q3 of this year.
