Nokia finally announces the Lumia 1020! Nokia has been on somewhat of a roll lately with the likes of their Lumia series handsets. The Lumia’s have a device for every niche of the smart phone market, from the entry level smart phones to the high end flagship devices we are seeing more and more Lumia’s as each day passes. The day everyone has been waiting for however has finally arrived. Back in February of last year Nokia shocked the world by embedding a massive 41 mega pixel camera sensor into their now infamous PureView 808 smart phone. Since the smart camera’s inception the big question on everyone’s mind is when will this technology be incorporated into Windows powered Lumina? Well folks the time has come.

Today Nokia finally took the wraps off their long awaited smart camera phone and it is indeed a smart camera! Nokia took to a stage somewhere in New York City to unveil their new smart phone and offer up potential customers “41 million reasons” to choose Nokia and more importantly Windows Phone. So what does the Lumia 1020 have to offer? Well, let’s put the camera to the side for a minute and take a gander at what makes the phone…a phone. The Lumia 1020 starts with a simple slate style body that measures in at a mere 10.4 mm. While surely not the thinnest device out there, it is rather impressive considering all that’s packed inside. Built into this thin build we find a 4.5 inch AMOLED touch screen display that offers up a 768×1280 pixel resolution at 334 pixels per inch.  Internally the Lumia 1020 comes packing a highly capable Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 MSM8960 system chip that uses a dual core 1.5 GHz Krait processor to get the job done. Additionally the device packs in an Adreno 225 GPU, 2 GB of RAM and 32 GB of built in storage. The Lumia 1020 also comes with all the utilities one would expect including, GPS, A-GPS, S-GPS, Glonass, Bluetooth 3.0, Wi-Fi, Hotspot, micro USB, DLNA and NFC and add in HD voice for god measure. Code named the Nokia Elvis, Nokia EOS and 909 the main feature that sets the 1020 apart from the rest of the entire smart phone community is its camera. The camera in the 1020 sports a 41 mega pixel sensor and builds off of the technologies introduced on the 808. Its camera comes with an LED Xenon flash, an aperture size of F2.2 and a host of features and camera tricks that would be an entire article on to itself. The Nokia Lumia 1020 in all of its camera excellence will be initially be an At&t exclusive and will cost end users approximately $299 of course under the shadow of a new two year contract. Pre-Orders via Ma’Bell will open on the 16th of this month. The Lumia 1020 is slated for it official launch on July 26th!
